Law of Oneness
(Dissolving the Sense of Separation)
May 1st, 2018
Dear Friend,
All is God. All.
There is not one exception to this truth. The infinitude is God, therefore all is God. It does not matter how we may describe a thing, a person, a circumstance, a place, nor does it matter what experience we are having of it (or of him or of her.) Every he, she and it are individual expressions or experiences of God because God is all that exists.
God is infinity and omnipresence. That leaves no room for anything except God. If we have a different experience than that of God, true and invariable good, it is because we believe that we are separate and, therefore different from God.
The sense of separation occurs at the inception of belief — of believing person, thing or condition is an entity unto itself. There is no separation “out there.” Everything that presents itself to us is God, because only God is. That is logical, isn't it?
Therefore, any sense of separation is happening “in here.” The sense of separation does not change that which is; it is nothing more than a sense “in here.”
I can be standing shoulder to shoulder with you and have an entirely different sense from you. Our different sense causes the two of us to have entirely different experiences of the same person, thing, activity, place and condition.
This is the law of oneness, the principle of oneness, and we cannot escape it.
Whatever we are being, we are being within the law of oneness, which is eternally operating. So if we are being something other than oneness, then something other than oneness — as the exactness of our belief — is what we sense as our objective experience. We cannot escape it. We cannot ever escape the law of oneness. The law of oneness is infinity itself, is omnipresence itself.
The moment we accept a person, thing, condition, amount, place as being different from God (in other words, as needing something of health, harmony, wealth, peace or love) and reach into God for the truth of the appearing discord, right there is the sense of separation that keeps it separated from God in our experience. Then, as we keep working to attain sufficient God realization to witness harmony where the problem appears to be, and as we keep looking back at it hoping that we'll see God revealed in it, as it, for it after sufficient lifting, meditation, silence — right there, again, is the sense of separation that keeps it separated from God in our experience. Right there. Do you see that?
The instant we accept a problem, then take our attention from it in order to lift into God awareness to be able to witness its truth, right there, that instant, is the sense of separation. And because sense is experience, right there is our separated experience. Nothing we can then do “spiritually” can help that sense of separation.
We are I. We are our universe. We are the very presence, form, activity, and being of our universe because “ye are gods.” (Psalm 82:6; John 10:34) There isn't God and a god and his or her universe. There is only God. “Ye” are that presence of God (impersonal God presence) as your universe. I am that presence of God (impersonal God presence) as mine. "Ye are gods." You are. You are the very impersonal presence of life, the existence of God as your universe.
Can you see then, that if you have a sense of separation, you are being that experience of separation? It is no use turning to God to heal it, prosper it, or harmonize it. It cannot work because you are being that sense of separation. Only when you meld the apparent two into one, can you see all as the oneness God is.
This awareness is critical in order to experience God. Can you see that, my friends?
It is simply impossible to have the evidence of God while we are being a sense of separation between that which we observe, and God. We could study truth, meditate, and sit in silence for the next billion years and it still wouldn't make any difference as long as we are being that sense of separation.
Sit with this for five minutes or so (or as long as you would like to). Really understand this. Ponder it deeply. Let its truth register within you, and then just rest and let the light of truth fill you.
(Some time of pondering, then silence)
You Are That Which You Observe
You are that which you observe. Look out into your room and realize: I am that. I am this.
You do not exist in the universe. You are not in your room. You are not even in your mind or body. These are in you.
We should take 10 minutes (or ten hours) of meditation between each of these truths. You see, we have heard them repeatedly, but have we realized them? Have we sat for hours upon hours and pondered them to the point of being able to get back up into the world and carry these truths with us, be these truths? No, most of us haven't. If we had, we wouldn't need this class. If we had, we wouldn't be fascinated in these meditations; they would be what we live and breath.
I was no better, of course. I do not stand on a pedestal, preaching this. It took me twenty years to catch a grain of truth, but it was a true grain and it revealed the wholeness and health of the body. It revealed the world of oneness – one being, one body, one mind, one thing, one place. All it takes is a true grain to see and experience the oneness that all is.
You are that which you observe. Look out into your room. Get a feeling for it. You don't have to look for a magical experience. (You see, right there is separation. All already is the kingdom of the magical.) Simply observe it and realize I am this. Feel it for a minute.
(A minute or two of silence)
Never do you need take thought for that which you observe.
As you look into your room, it doesn't matter what people are there, what things are there, what they appear to be, what their function appears to be in our world. "Take no thought for your life." (Matthew 6:25) You do not need to. There is never a need to take thought for a person, thing, a place, a condition, an amount, an activity. God's got it. So relax and look out, simply observing as I am. All that I observe is I being it, I am being it.
Feel this truth again for a few moments.
(A minute or two of silence)
Now, consciously realize that all is one. Again, don't look for objective magic tricks. All already is one. What this is, is a realization of the infinity and omnipresence of consciousness being all, despite the way it appears to be through objective sense. Release yourself from appearance. Realize, consciousness is all and consciousness is omnipresence. The whole of God exists at every point of the infinite at the same time. The whole of God exists as and at every point of your room, your consciousness, this instant. The whole of God! There is no separation, no difference, no inner, no outer. All is one, simply objectively sensed.
God is one. God is omnipresence. All is one. All is God.
We cannot get more God in an object, in a person, in a condition, a function, an organ, than we already have, because all is God. We cannot withdraw from that which appears to be and run into God somewhere. God isn't there. God is staring at us. God is. “We live and move and have our being in God.” (Acts 17:28) God is everything everywhere.
If your or your friend's body is sick or injured, don't turn from it and supposedly "come to" God. Don't separate and divide like that. The moment we create a separation of sense like that, and then attempt to lift into “God consciousness" to evidence truth, we have failed from that moment. Why? We have created, in sense, two from one. We may well have beautiful so-called "inner" realization, "inner" peace, even "inner" bliss, but the moment we open our eyes and look back at the body, we are being the separation and difference between God and the sense of body. No matter how much God we've realized and even experienced or sensed in the so-called “within” we will remain unable to see the image and likeness of God as the body.
You see, there isn't a “within” vs. a “without”. Listen to the master again in the Gospel of Thomas. "Make the inner as the outer and make the outer as the inner; make the female male and the male female." All there is is oneness. We, in our sense of separation, can feel God within and believe that because of that experience the body should now be made whole and healthy. No, no.
The body is already whole, healthy, youthful, eternal, but our sense of separation keeps it from being visible to us. The true body is perfectly visible but our sense of separation makes us blind to it. Another person in the consciousness of oneness could come along and instantly see the healthy body.
There are thousands of experiences in the books of the Bible, particularly the experience of Jesus, and then throughout the last two hundred years in Mary Baker Eddy's life, then Joel's and now ours, of God being evident as our sense of room, as mind and body, as supply, as peace, yet only the very few are able to see it. The rest of the world is unable to. Why?
Each individual can see and have only that of his or her level of awareness (or consciousness). We can stand shoulder to shoulder with a human being, seeing the spiritual kingdom of oneness, of healthy, vital people, minds and bodies, yet the person standing with us can see only human people, mind and bodies of good and bad. They cannot see what we see. They cannot see the very presence of God even though its visibility shines throughout the universe. They cannot see it because their eyes are blind to spirit. The true universe is within the universe of sense. When our eyes are spiritually open we see the being within the being, the body within the body, the dollar within the dollar, the family within the family, the home within the home, the business within the business, the world within the world. We see the "within" of all, not the outer shell of material sense alone. In other words, the purer, the more illumined presence of person and thing can only be seen as itself. We have to be the more illumined presence; we have to be the presence of oneness to have the visibility of oneness.
Oneness is present. Oneness is forever present. Oneness is the only presence. The only thing that presents itself to us is God. In other words, the only thing we can be aware of is God. Nothing but God exists. The only thing we are conscious of is God. The only thing we see, hear, taste, touch, smell is God because “we live and move and have our being in God.” We are gods – "Ye are gods" – and gods see spiritually, not materially.
Now, whatever degree of awareness we are living is itself the degree we witness. We cannot do anything about this because of the law of oneness. The law of God, the principle of God is forever in operation. We cannot bypass it.
It is like any principle. Let's take the principle of math. If, after struggling with math, we catch the fact that 12 X 12 is 144, yet we haven't yet realized the rest of the 12X table, then all we know and can see and work with of math is 12 X 12 is 144. The rest we do not have; we cannot see it. The answer to 12 X 11 exists in the same place as the 144 of 12 X 12, but we can't see it. It has not yet registered with us. We haven't yet awakened to it. Do you see that? It is the same with God, with truth, with reality. We can only see and have that which we are being.
In the consciousness of oneness, we realize this and therefore, never shy away from that which appears to be discordant or diseased. Yes, we may turn our back on it and often do but we have to do so in oneness. We withdraw from appearance and find our quiet place, in oneness. Do you see that difference? Maybe this hasn't been clear enough over the years. If we turn our 180 degrees away from the problem in twoness, then our turning away does no good whatsoever. In fact, it guarantees that the problem will still be sitting in our sense no matter how many times we attempt to clear the fog.
We have to realize that God is one and inseparable. Yes, we turn away, if we have to, to free ourselves of a highly suggestive appearance, but we do so in oneness. We close our eyes in oneness and realize that the appearance presenting itself to us, this sense of discord, disease, lack or limitation (or whatever it might be) is, in reality, God. At first, my hearing of the claim, or my being presented with it in person, may take a conscious act of realization. The “smaller” claims are usually dissipated upon contact, but sometimes the “serious” claims, particularly if the individual has a lot of fear around what he or she is experiencing, may take some work on our part. Our work does not involve healing a person, a body, a condition that is separate and different from God. Nothing is separate and different from God. Our work is as a god. Our work is the realization of God being all, of I am to I am. We imbue ourselves with God as God is, as all. There we have it. This is legitimate.
But if ever we have a sense of two, if ever we have a sense that God will heal the body, prosper the finances or the business, bring love to the couple and the family, then we are being the very sense of separation that cannot see God. In a sense of separation, there is no way in heaven or earth that we will be able to witness God as it is as. . . . then fill in the blanks.
If you want to find God, look at your hand or your leg or a flower or a bird or a person walking by. There is God.
If you want to immerse yourself in God, simply rest right here in the middle of your own consciousness, and feel the presence taking place. The whole of God is right here where you are. Your consciousness is God; God is your consciousness. But do not separate. Your consciousness is fully existent and visible at every point of your infinity at the same time. You can observe the space one inch from your nose or you can look way out to the other side of your universe, and realize that right there is the whole of God, the whole of consciousness, the whole of oneness that I am. I and that which I observe are one, and the “two” of us are one with and as the Father. There is no separation, no difference.
Whatever or whomever you observe, it is I. There is no separation of difference between you and the object of sense. All is God within and without. The so-called separateness and difference are our multitudinous sense of the infinity and omnipresence of God. Devoid of belief they are earth as it is in heaven – wondrous, miraculous, practical objective experiences of fulfillment. But the minute we believe we are here and these other people and things are out there, we have separated and divided that which is inseparable and indivisible. The minute we are hoodwinked into believing that people are of one substance — flesh, existing a world of different substances — plant, wood, glass, brick, concrete, plastic — then we have taken on the sense of separation that keeps us locked out of the God experience. The minute we accept anything at all as being good or bad, there is that sense of separation, that sense of difference from God, and nothing we then attempt to to to witness God will change it for us. Nothing.
The only way we can have God is by being a god. (This is in practical experience we're speaking of. We always have God, you know that.) But the only way we see and have God as practical experience is to be a god as practical experience.
Whether your body is so-called healthy, vibrant, youthful or so-called injured, diseased or aged, feel its spirit now. Rest in it for a minute.
(A minute or two of silence)
Now realize: there is no separation between God and your body. There is no difference between God and your body. There is no separation or difference between God and any body. Now tell me where you need to go in order to have the God experience as body. As you have the God experience of body, the body is real to you as that of God—the quality, the nature, the function is of God, good, eternity.
So where would you need to go to have the God experience of the body?
Feel the presence, the spirit, of your body and know that it is the very presence of God. It is the very presence of heaven and earth and all the host of them. In this realization, you can release all concern for the body can get on with your day, staying in the consciousness of God. The consciousness of God is not up here in your head, in a place believed to be where consciousness is. It is everything everywhere. Consciousness is all of all and constitutes your body.
We are very lucky today compared with one hundred years ago and more. Today, we have over 7.6 billion opportunities to see God, to visibly experience God as person and as body. This is the world population in 2018. One hundred years ago it was 1.8 billion; at the time of the Master, it was about 160 million.
God is pouring itself into our conscious experience. We experience more and more of God; we are awakening to ever more God awareness so that now we have 7.6 billion people and concepts of body, all of which we know to be God. The very presence of God! What more do we want?
Feel your body again and realize: this is the very presence of God, all that God is, has and is being as individual you. This is consciousness, the very presence of all that God is and has. Do you see how you can, with this realization walk, into your world, walk into your businesses, walk into whatever it is you do every day, no matter how busy you are, no matter how involved you are in that activity, with the realization that your body is the substance, presence and activity of God?
You do not have to retire to a cave to find God, believing that then your body will reveal its God quality. Your body is God, and every other body is God. Every person you interact with during the day, every person that even touches your consciousness is God, and all the space between seemingly “you” and seemingly “them” is also God.
Rest in the body of God with me now.
(A few minutes of silence)
Now, if you are even touching the consciousness of oneness you will feel a universal relief running through you that this hour you can be assured your life has changed. If you do not feel it yet, it is okay. It is present nevertheless. The way to feel it is to spend time pondering this class until you feel yourself flowing over into the consciousness of oneness, where you can really feel the truth of oneness as the body, as the sense of your room, as your outside world. Then simply rest in that oneness, and in that rest you will feel the relief of having to take no thought for any person, thing or condition. You have awakened to the truth that all is already God.
As you live as conscious oneness, you live the rested, receptive state of being in which you are forever open to God. You are being God. The windows of your being are open, and you live as and by beholding God as all. Never do we have this sense of separation that makes us turn from that which appears to be discordant, sit in God, and then hope to come back to that thing and see it healed. No, no. That can never work. I hope you realize why now.
You are the presence of God appearing to my sense as you. If I ever, for a minute, believe that you are not, then you should run from me as fast as you can. If you come to me with a request for healing and I believe that there is anything real about the claim you bring to me, that therefore requires healing, you'd be best served to run from me. I am spiritually useless to you if I believe that the claim is real, and then go sit in my chair, find God, transfer my God experience to you, and then look out at you hoping to see the claim healed. This is nothing but mumbo-jumbo.
But I know that only God presents itself to me. It doesn't matter how. It might be as a person, a mind, a body, a thing, an amount, a business, an activity, a place. It doesn't make any difference to me. These are just names and labels given to objective experience. All that presents itself to me is God. I live and move and have my being in God, and God lives and moves and has its being in and as me, and that's it. That is the beginning, the middle and the end.
Where, then, is there separation? Where, then, is there difference? What, then, requires healing? Why, then, would I need to run off into my chair to sit with God? Why? I am already in God. I'm immersed in God and God is all as me. All that God is and has flows into revelation where I am as long as I remain impersonally in God awareness.
Do not ever judge by appearance. Are we still doing that, we, at this level? We mustn't ever judge by appearance. If we do and as we do, there is the sense of separation.
(A few minutes of silence)
Are you feeling the universal release? Do you feel the deep relaxation that comes about you? Every sense and cell of you relaxed, free, simply beholding God as all, never with a sense of separation or difference.
(A few minutes of silence)
That which you feel within is heaven right here as earth; and heaven, of course, is and sees itself fully, infinitely. Be assured that as you live like this, as you rest, continually rest like this in the consciousness of God in which nothing is separate, nothing is different, nothing is in need or want, heaven is visible as objective sense. In other words, earth is as it is in heaven is now visible and real to you.
But the minute we separate we shut the whole of heaven out of our experience. The instant of separation is the instant we believe we have to go to God to heal a body, to prosper finances or business or families, to feed the multitudes, to heal the multitudes, to bring peace where there is war, or where there is argument between two people or families or neighbors. Right there is the sense of separation. And then, no matter how many hours, weeks, years we keep going to God to attempt to heal it, we fail, because God is already all that we can describe, all that we can experience. God is all. Let us not be the separated sense. Let us be oneness. Let us live as oneness, let us have oneness. In oneness, there is nothing for us to do. "Be still and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)
"Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord which he will show you this day." (Exodus 14:13) The body shows itself to you as life, as health, as youthfulness, as purpose this day as you stop separating it in sense from that which it is in reality. Money and prosperity show themselves to you this day as you stop separating money from God, separating business from God, separating customer, client, or student from God. All is God. Home, neighborhood show their harmony and happiness to you this day as you stop separating these from God. The world shows you this day what she is as you stop separating her from God, as you stop the nonsense of trying to bring God to the false scene to heal it, fix it, pacify it, prosper it. All already is God.
As we live and move and have our beings as oneness, we have oneness in real and practical experience. Then it is that we are spiritually valuable to the world. Then it is that we can feed, heal, comfort, bring light to our sense world; then it is that we can love our neighbors as ourselves. Only then, only in oneness as we know that our neighbors are I am. When we do, and when we live the reality of oneness, the fruits are abundant.
All is I am; therefore there is no separation. Therefore, we must not harbor a sense of separation, but be the presence of oneness. Be oneness. Be a god. Be God consciousness. Then watch the miracles of God in action everywhere you are.
There have been beautiful healings, beautiful releases as this letter is read and rested with.
This is a major release of being, so let us sit with this. Let us be together with this.
I am in many hours of silence each day. I invite you to sit with me in the consciousness of oneness. Just by being still and resting back in oneness we not only experience more and more of that which we are (and all in our consciousness are) but also we are being the light of and for the world, are being the light of and for every person, every thing, every place, every condition that touches our consciousness. The more we stay in and as the consciousness of oneness the more see and have the infinity of earth's good.
Then we are a great blessing to our worlds.
Blessings,
Paul
P.S. Awareness Itself: Being Aware of Awareness Itself Is the Key is just published (April 26) and is being very well received. Thank you to all who have sent your initial responses to the book.
It is almost a miracle in itself to watch a book of raw truth such as Awareness Itself being well received. I am occasionally tempted to believe that a book containing no promises for the human condition – that of putting down both bad and good humanhood, and resting “naked” in God for the pure experience of God fulfillment – is before its time. Are the students ready? Can they hear it?
Of course, nothing is before its time; of course the students are ready; of course they can hear it. That which comes into awareness is I expressing, I becoming visible as individual sense, the new season's fruit revealing itself as objective experience.
It is utterly impossible for anything – including this humble little book! – to be in an individual's awareness if it isn't their I revealing it. And when I reveals itself, no matter as what form or in what guise, it is itself the fruit of fulfillment. I and form are one; I and fulfillment are one. Nothing is given, nothing comes, nothing evolves; there is no cause and effect; there is no time and space. All is; and all is I. All experience is I revealing itself to sense.
Before its time? No. Precisely on time!
Even if you do not have the book, or are not reading it online, realize that by just being aware of it, its fulfillment is yours. Simply rest, and freely receive the visible fruits it reveals.
