I watch my gifted son as he writes and performs music. He is absorbed in his own universe, the universe where music and he are one. Nothing ‘else’ is happening but his hearing the music and bringing the form out into conceptual experience.
I’ve shared with you before that he refuses to learn
to read music. He always has refused. It drives his music teachers crazy! But as
he says, “I don’t need to read other composer’s music.
I hear my own music.”
