Withdrawing and relaxing from, and abandoning the material sense of its own self (the belief in it) does not mean we are poor in material good. It means the opposite! Material good becomes rich, and abundantly so. Remember that material experience is simply a material sense of spirit, a corporeal sense of the incorporeal, God (which is infinite).
