Only the personal self suffers; only the personal self is able to suffer. The impersonal self is forever free and whole in spirit and truth—God. The impersonal self forever has God and all that God is and has. “Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is yours.”
    The first thing we must be able to do is realize that any pain or suffering is impersonal. It is just as impersonal as a dark cloud passing by, or as a day that is too hot or too cold. These things are happening in experience; there is no denying that and no need to. But they are impersonal. They are not happening to you or to me; they are not happening in you or in me; they are not happening for or against you or me—they are simply happening.
   Right away realize that the body experience, either good or bad, or very good or very bad, is impersonal; we can call it the impersonal body.
