APPEARANCE IS ILLUSION

In the movie theater, we can quickly see that the images have nothing to do with the screen. We are observing them where the screen is, but they do not belong to the screen. We cannot go to the screen to make changes to those images; and if we tried, we'd be suffering a confused state of belief in appearance. If we wish to change the images on the screen, we have to turn 180° away from the screen and go to where the images exist—in the reel of film—and there make our changes.
    In this way, we have to turn 180° away from what seems to be happening (both the good or bad condition) and from where it seems to be happening (in the mind, body or world) realizing that what is happening in our experience is one hundred percent impersonal and is not taking place where it seems to be; realizing that the condition has nothing to do with “us,” nor is it happening anywhere in us, to us, for us or against us.
