Even at the human level of awareness, we can quickly see that everything believed to be “ours” is limited and costly, whereas most of that which we believe to be of the natural world is unlimited and free for us to enjoy.
    For instance, we may still believe that we own our life and our body, that we own our business and are responsible for its success, that we own our money, that we own our home or our lease, that we own the furniture in our home and the food in our cupboards. As we look into even these few aspects of life, we quickly discover they are all limited and costly. We only have a certain number of them, and only for a certain time; our body is impermanent and subject to change; we have only a certain amount of money to our name, a certain amount of food in our cupboards; we have only a certain number of family and friends. Everything we believe to be “ours” is limited both in quality and quantity, and subject to the influence of either good or bad.
